Sugar and other confessions-

I think this will be the first holiday season ever  (Halloween-until after Jan. 1st) that I haven't and won't overdose on sugar.  It's pretty remarkable how incredibly addicting it is when you think about it-or should I say---it is for me.
True Story: I could eat  a 1/2 a bag of Hostess powdered donuts...often more-and not be full :(
I wouldn't even consider that now.
I don't know if I'll ever be stating that I've OVERCOME.  At this stage, if I opened up that door again-I'd be right where I was before.  I won't be 'dabbling' in refined sugar.
True Story: I haven't lost any lbs. in almost 3 wks!  I'm not giving up, and I'm not even all that worried (yet). My sleeping is still wack-o, I haven't exercised lately, I've been sick, and I just feel over-stretched--out of balance, if you know what I mean.
I've lived long enough to know that...this will pass.
True Story: I'll be gone for almost 3 wks caring for family and celebrating Christmas. I will keep in touch.  You all have become such an important part of my support system, and my self-care.  I've also started to think about my "crazy-A food" (my daugther's teasing comment) that I will bring with me: special chocolate, Stevia, Chia seeds, etc.
They have a Trader Joe's close by, so I can get what I need. I know I need to be proactive if I want to keep focused.  It's easy for me to lose myself when I'm with family, so I just need to be aware.
I hope you all have a good day-and thanks for checking in.

  1. Hi Jeri, I hope you feel better soon. I finally do. I used to love those donuts and pretty much everything sweet. I love how I don't have to do that anymore.
Please try to post while you are gone. You know you can do it from your phone too..
    Have a great day :-)

  3. Have a great Christmas! I was a bottomless pit with certain foods before and I love not having that feeling now! Good for you on not giving up even when the scale isnt moving. That is really important and makes all the difference in the long run.

  4. I totally hear you on the sugar! I could put away 2 giant maple bars and think nothing of it! I know it is a slippery slope for me too. I try and make triggers less accessible so I don't eat them. It's amazing how I don't feel deprived at all. Yet:)
It takes forever to lose weight and an instant to put it back on:( You will see progress soon.
It just feels so good to eat most of what I have always eaten, just modified!
    Enjoy your time:)

  5. HI Jeri. I could do the same thing with certain foods, and overeat. I really don't have the cravings at all like I used to. That being said, I am hesitant to start trying all of these low carb, sugar free treats everyone is making. I think I would overdo them the same way, so I'm trying to stay away. I am one of those who is losing very slow. I guess I slip up on the carbs too much, but my weight loss is minimal, and I really want to do better. I rely on all the support and good camraderie I get from these blogs. Also I wanted to tell you that I have one of the same Christmas traditions you do. We started giving each of our boys an ornament a year since they were born, and now they will have a nice collection for their own tree. Great minds think alike! Hugs from me to you!

  6. I haven't lost any weight in over three weeks (unless this recent 1 lb sticks). I think it is harder once we lose the initial big amount. Christmas treats are a big threat to the BFC, I hope we can make it thru being happy AND good.
