Somethings we can control and others we cannot. I come from an alcoholic mother. When I was a young girl, I use to feel bitter when I read the serenity prayer. I no longer carry around all that hurt and bitterness, and in someways appreciate what my ailing mother was trying to do.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can (and my favorite part), and the wisdom to know the difference.
I'm trying too.
Happy 2012...I'm glad I get to share it with you all. It is going to be amazing!
Good Morning Jeri and Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI think we have learned a lot about ourselves by doing the BFC. I have learned to control my eating and not emotional eat That's a big thing for me.
We do have to let go of all the past hurt. I know I had to also.
Have a great day :-)
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Jeri!!! That must have taken a lot of purposeful effort to not hold on to that bitterness. I agree some things we can control and some things we can't, and it's important to realize what we can controll and take action in our lives. Have a wonderful day :)
ReplyDeleteI too agree...its gonna be a great year! I keep thinking to myself, "just think of what you are going to look like in 6 months when you are at goal!" It is my driving force.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jeri!!! Happy New Year!!!
Jeri, my heart goes out to you for the healing that you have had to do. I know that life is challenge at times and look at the success you have become!
ReplyDeleteThis year will be an amazing year, because we believe it will be. There are definite challenges to overcome, but we have each other for support!
Happy 2012!
The serenity prayer is truly the balance between acceptance and change. Getting rid of past hurts is sometimes so hard to do, but we are so much better if we can accomplish it. Happy New Year Jeri
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Jeri. Sounds like you have your head and your heart in a great place now. I love the serenity prayer. Let's all pray for the wisdom we need to make the changes we want! Big hugs from me to you!
ReplyDeleteI have had to move past huge hurts from my past as well, but having a great future is the best part of moving forward; not allowing past hurts to rob us of a great future. Other people's choices are theirs, my choices are mine. Not allowing my life to get intertwined by other's choices, regardless of how much their actions hurt me at the moment, allows me to still be peaceful in my own life.
ReplyDeleteWe can't change what we can't change, and the sooner we accept that, the happier we'll be. Hugs and a happy year to you this year.
No matter what your religious affiliation, The Serenity Prayer is very wise.
