I'm allergic to the cold

I do this every year:
...feeling sluggish as soon as the weather changes-and gets below 50 degrees.  I am not doing well in the exercise department.  When it's warm outside-I feel like I come alive.  I can hardly wait to get out and walk...long, luxurious walks. Yes, you heard a longing in my voice.
I have a gym membership (waste of $$ for me), lots of exercise videos, etc. And we have an elliptical.  I know what I need to do.  If I wait to be motivated before I get it moving... it won't happen: work first-then the motivation comes.  I know this.
Just an FYI, I'm writing this as I lay in bed-covered in blankets.
Are you allergic to winter too?

  2. I hear you Jeri! I walked my dogs yesterday and couldn't wait to get home.It was so windy and cold. I don't like it too warm, but not too cold either. Maybe I should move to San Diego! I have headed back to the gym too. I got alittle lazy over the summer. I am just doing 30 minutes on the elliptical a few times a week. I tell myself, it's only 30 minutes, that's such a short time, and I can stand anything for 30 minutes. Sounds silly but it works for me! Hugs to you from me!

  3. Yup I hear ya, The colder weather seems to effect all of us in the exercise dept. At least where I am, even when I think its cold - its really not. I still get to walk everyday except when its rainy like today.
    Have a good day :-)

  4. Hi Jeri, I live in Western NC and actually look forward to cool weather. I guess I'm the exception. I have essential tremors and the warmer it is, the worse I feel. So, this morning it was 28 degrees out when my hubby and I walked our five miles at the park. I ABSOLUTELY loved it!!!! Have a great weekend and God Bless You.

  5. Hi Linda in NC-thanks for stopping by for a chat...you're my hero! Do you layer your clothing? Any clothing recommendations for a whimp like me?
P.S. I have always wanted to visit you state--some day.

  6. Well, since I don't really know what cold is...I have no advice. For me, once the temp dips below 65, I'm in heaven! I'd MUCH rather bundle up and get outside, than turn into a puddle before I reach the mailbox. Oh how I long for true cold!

  7. I love the cooler weather! So much better to go out and walk and breathe in the cool air - it just makes me feel invigorated. The frigid, below freezing weather with gusty Artic winds in the middle of winter - not so much!

  8. Hello Again Jeri, :-)
Yes, I do layer. I find it works much better than one heavy coat. Also, it's easier to take layers off once you warm up a little. We love NC. My hubby was in the Air Force for 20 years and ended up here in Asheville when his service time was finished. It's absolutely beautiful. I hope you can visit NC one day soon. It has it all, mountains as well as beaches. Who could ask for more? Have a great weekend Jeri. :-)

  9. I don't really like the cold, we have an heated mattress pad that we got on sale at Macy's last year HEAVEN. We just use it to warm up the bed because to sleep with it on is too much. Have a wonderful weekend :)
