QUESTION: What do you know about Quinoa? I read it's a high protein seed...not grain.
Consider this a huge shout-out to all the BFC/FT'er...or whatever's out there. I spent a lot of years at Weight Watchers-and never had the support that I've had the last few months. I suppose I just didn't know how to ask for help-but you're all so friendly. It was also so helpful to be invited into your supportive community. So come over over-you're welcomed too.
I did have some oatmeal yesterday---in the form of meatloaf...that's a comfort food for my hubby-and I enjoyed some myself. Why not! I am down another 1.5lbs from Monday. I'm pretty consistent with .5lb/day. I'll take it while it lasts. To those few who may be listening... I'm not anti-grain/legume--I just want/need to see the scale move. I've been stuck for a long time, and it feels good--to feel good.
I pulled out a Jazzercise DVD yesterday and had a good workout. I suppose I'm going to have to dust those off, and yes...make peace with cooler weather.
HI Jeri,
ReplyDeleteI eat quinoa and I consider it a grain - it is actually from the leafy green family like; spinach and swiss chard. 1/4 cup dry has 0 sugar and over 1 serving of carbs and 3 fiber and 7 grms of protien. It is very tiny. Good alternative to rice.
Have a great day :-)
I don't know too much about quinoa but I do see that a lot of low carb diets allow it. How are you going to prepare it? I agree with the support of this community. It is a nice safe place to come and get advice and encouragement. Is jazzercise fun?
ReplyDeleteQuinoa is a seed, not a grain (not a member of the grass family.) It's also a complete protein. While I don't see it in Jorge's book, it is considered ok to eat according to 'Mark's Daily Apple' which is a paleo website that I think Jorge gets a lot of his info from (in my opinion.)
ReplyDeleteI dont know what quinoa is considered but I have eaten it before. I must have figured the counts wrong because I thought the carb count was higher so that is why I dont eat it often. Congrats on your weight loss yippeee!
ReplyDeleteI tried quinoa for the first time this summer, I thought it was a grain. Thank you for sharing that it is a seed.
